Buy Back Time:
Colossians 4:5,6

Waisted Years

Every wish you could turn back the hands of time and relive a season of life? Ever wish you could go back in time and make a different decision than one that you made?

A bad business deal, an addiction, bad relationships, an expensive and time consuming hobby all can be reasons to look back and ask yourself the question, “If I could do it all over again what would I do differently?”

It is a sobering feeling when one day you awaken to the fact that you have wasted so much time in life. Some of our time has been wasted in sin, some of it meaningless things, or in a hobby that brought some pleasure, but robbed years that could have been invested in family or ministry.

Regrets

There are those who say that they live life with no regrets. However, most of us have regrets. These regrets can weigh us down and leave us depressed. After all, you cannot roll back the hands of time. Regrets are like the mark of an indelible pen that cannot be erased. It is for that reason that we can be trapped in the yesterday, in a world of despair over past decisions.

Buying Back Time

So, what does the Bible mean when it says,

“Redeem the time” (Colossians 4:5)?

Some versions translate this as “make the most of every opportunity.” This translation helps, but it misses something of the healing that also needs to take place when you are dealing with regrets over wasted years. Can we really recover the years that were lost? Can we, in fact, buy back the wasted years? Can we really say good-bye to regrets over time poorly spent?

What Remains

In this verse we learn something about the Apostle Paul’ perspective on time and how we should be spending it, redeeming it, buying it back. Listen to this teaching on Colossians 4:5,6. Be set free from regrets in the past.

Blessings,

Rich
