Always Thank! Always Pray!

Always Praying! (Colossians 1:3-14)

7 PRAYERS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE

I need a new job. Can you pray? My wife nags at me. Can you pray? I am afraid of my husband. Can you pray? My friend has been arrested. Can you pray? My aunt has cancer. Can you pray? I lost the keys to my car? Can you pray? We need to refinance our house. Can you pray?

I want to uncomplicate Paul’s letter to the Colossians. I want you to understand it and be deeply blessed.

In Part 2 – We learn to pray 7 prayers that are deeply spiritual.

How marvelous! Any need we have, we come to the Lord. God is able. The Bible says,

“Cast all your anxieties on him. Because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done” (Philippians 4:6).

SOMETHING MORE | SOMETHING DEEPER

These kinds of prayers are very helpful to our faith in God. However, is there something deeper? Is there something more spiritual that we should ask from Jesus? Is there prayer that creates inner, spiritual renewal? It is possible for the Lord to make our marriage better, provide a better job, get our friend out of prison, and refinance our house, but we remain unchanged?

PRAY THE FOLLOWING PRAYERS AND WATCH WHAT HAPPENS

PRAY THESE 7 SPIRITUAL PRAYERS
(Colossians 1:9-14)

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to … (Col. 1:9).

(1) KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’s WILL

“… to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding …” (Col. 1:9)

    • Ask God to reveal his purpose for you and to find His will for their life.
    • Ask for spiritual wisdom not only earthly wisdom.

(2) LIVE A WORTHY LIFE | PLEASE THE LORD

“… so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord …” (Col. 1:10).

    • Ask God for a life without hypocrisy.

“… and please him in every way …” (Col. 1:10).

    • Tell the Lord that you want to satisfy Him. It should give you pleasure to do things for the ones you love.

(3) FRUITFUL LIFE

“…bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God …” (Col. 1:10).

    • Pray for a productive life, that you would not waste time and energy in things that don’t matter.

(4) GROW IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

“… growing in the knowledge of God …” (Col. 1:10).

    • Pray fo a healthy spirit that grows.
    • Pray that you will grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus. (1 Peter 3:18).

(5) STRENGTHENED WITH ALL POWER

“… being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might …” (Col. 1:11).

    • Ask God fill you with his power.
    • This power is from Him and not from yourself.

(6) HAVE GREAT ENDURANCE

“… so that you may have great endurance and patience …(Col.1:11).

    • Pray that you will not quit.
    • Pray that you will remain in the race.

(7) GIVING JOYFUL THANKS

“… giving joyful thanks to the Father … (Col.1:12).

    • Ask God to fill you with thankfulness

Why?

“… He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins” (Col. 1:12-14).

    1. God has qualified you to share in His inheritance of his saints in the kingdom of light
    2. He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.
    3. We are redeemed
    4. We are forgiven
